How Average Price Works

Average buy price = total invested ÷ total quantity. When you buy at several prices, that average is your position's true break-even. For risk-based sizing before you buy, use the position size calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my average buy price?

Average price = total amount invested ÷ total quantity bought. When you buy at different prices, this gives you the true break-even for your whole position.

What is averaging down?

Buying more at a lower price to reduce your average entry. It lowers your break-even but increases your position size and risk — use it with a plan, not as an emotional reaction.

What is DCA (dollar-cost averaging)?

Splitting your investment into regular buys over time instead of one lump sum. It reduces the impact of volatility and timing; this calculator shows your resulting average.

Does it work for spot and futures?

Yes. Average price is universal for any series of buys — spot or futures, on Binance, Bybit, OKX or elsewhere.
