How to read the funding rate
Funding is a periodic payment between long and short holders of perpetual futures, settled every 8 hours (00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 UTC). Positive means longs pay; negative means shorts pay. Bitcoin's normal level is about +0.01% per 8 hours; above 0.03% the long side is clearly crowded, and deeply negative funding means crowded shorts that can fuel a short squeeze. See what you would actually pay with the funding rate calculator, and how it moves your break-even in break-even price incl. fees and funding.
