Binance Futures Funding Rate Calculator
Work out how much funding you pay or receive on a long or short over your holding period. Same concept on Bybit, OKX & Bitget.
How the Funding Rate Works
Funding is the mechanism that keeps a perpetual contract’s price near spot. It is exchanged between traders every 8 hours (the exchange does not take it). A positive rate: longs pay shorts. A negative rate: shorts pay longs. It is only charged if you hold the position at settlement. Read the full guide in the funding rate explainer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Funding = notional size × funding rate × the number of 8-hour periods the position is open. It settles every 8 hours (00:00, 08:00, 16:00 UTC).
When the rate is positive, longs pay shorts. When it is negative, shorts pay longs. This reflects which side of the market is crowded.
Yes. Funding is only charged if you hold the position at the settlement moment. Closing before it means you pay or receive no funding for that period.
When longs are crowded (a high long ratio), funding is usually positive, so shorts get paid — a tailwind for BeforePump’s SHORT signals.
