How do you know if a crypto scanner is actually accurate? This is the right question to ask before trusting any signal service with your capital. This article explains exactly how BeforePump measures, tracks, and publishes signal accuracy โ€” and what the numbers mean in practice.

Live data: The most current accuracy figures are always on the BeforePump Track Record page. This article explains the methodology โ€” how we count wins and losses, and what conditions affect accuracy.

The Accuracy Methodology: How We Count

Transparency requires a clear, consistent definition of what counts as a win. Here is the exact methodology BeforePump uses:

1
Signal TimestampThe moment a signal fires is recorded as the reference point. Entry price is the coin's market price at signal publication time.
2
7-Day Evaluation WindowThe coin's price movement is tracked for exactly 7 calendar days after the signal. If price hits TP1 within 7 days, it's a win. If it hits Stop Loss first, it's a loss. If neither within 7 days, it's a loss.
3
Win Definition: TP1 HitTarget 1 (first take-profit) must be reached. A signal that moves up 10% but doesn't hit TP1 is not counted as a win. This is a strict, binary definition.
4
Loss Definition: SL Hit or No MovementStop Loss hit = immediate loss record. No movement within 7 days = loss record. We do not adjust after the fact or reclassify results.
5
Public LoggingAll results are published on the track record page with full data. Nothing is deleted. You can cross-verify any signal using Binance historical OHLCV data.

How Market Conditions Affect Accuracy

Signal accuracy is not static. The scanner performs differently depending on the macro crypto environment:

๐ŸŸข High Accuracy: Altcoin Season
BTC dominance declining below 52โ€“50%. Capital rotating into alts. OI signals on altcoins lead to follow-through moves. Best environment for scanner signals.
๐ŸŸก Moderate: BTC Consolidation
BTC ranging. Some altcoins break out independently. Signal accuracy drops slightly โ€” not all OI moves become significant price moves in a flat BTC environment.
๐ŸŸก Moderate: BTC Bull Run
Capital flows into BTC. Altcoins lag even when signals fire. Signal accuracy acceptable for BTC-correlated alt signals, weaker for small caps that need independent flows.
๐Ÿ”ด Lower Accuracy: Bear Phase
Consistent BTC downtrend. Even strong derivative signals often fail as the macro overrides individual coin setups. Lower signal frequency recommended during bear markets.
Important: Accuracy statistics are always contextual. A 75% win rate during altcoin season is not the same as a 75% win rate in a bear market. Always review accuracy figures alongside the market condition during the tracked period.

4/4 vs 3/4 Signals: Does Strength Matter?

BeforePump signals are scored 1โ€“4 based on how many of the 4 scanner metrics are triggered simultaneously. The historical pattern shows:

The implication for traders: consider position sizing based on signal strength. Many subscribers use slightly larger size on 4/4 signals and standard size on 3/4 signals as part of their risk management.

Independent Verification: How to Check Any Signal

Any signal in the track record can be independently verified in 3 steps:

  1. Note the signal date, coin, entry price, TP1, and SL from the track record
  2. Pull the Binance OHLCV data for that pair for the 7 days following the signal timestamp
  3. Check: did price reach TP1 before SL? If yes, win. If not, loss.

This is why we use publicly verifiable data from Binance โ€” you do not need to trust us. You can verify the data yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

A signal is counted as a win when the coin's price reaches Target 1 (first take-profit level) within 7 calendar days of the signal timestamp. Signals that hit Stop Loss first, or that do not reach either level within 7 days, are counted as losses. This is a strict definition โ€” we do not use looser definitions like "price moved up at all" or "eventually reached target after 30 days."
No indicator system has 100% accuracy. Signals fail for several reasons: sudden news events (regulation, hack, listing changes), BTC market-wide dumping that overrides altcoin setups, and false positives where the threshold metrics are triggered but the actual move doesn't materialize. Including losses in the track record is essential for honest accuracy reporting.
Yes, significantly. Signal accuracy is highest during altcoin season phases (high BTC market dominance declining, altcoins outperforming). During BTC consolidation or bear phases, fewer altcoins move significantly even when scanner metrics trigger. The scanner's historical performance is not static โ€” context matters.
Historically, 4/4 signals (all 4 metrics aligned: OI anomaly + funding shift + volume spike + RSI recovery) have higher accuracy than 3/4 signals. The gap is meaningful โ€” 4/4 represents maximum confluence of indicators. Check the live track record for current figures.
The full signal history is published on the track record page with timestamps, entry prices, and outcomes. You can independently verify any result by checking historical Binance OHLCV data against the signal date and entry price. We encourage independent verification.
